Nice read! Yes, maybe a little harsh on the geared crowd, but generally right on. The point where newbie gains fade is where the slower game begins. This is exactly where I am now. My program is a full-body 5×5 type that got me lots of muscle and quite rapid progress at first. But now, things have changed; I am not going to go from 240 to 250 lbs as fast as I got from 210, and it took me three months to go from 5 to 8 reps with my current work weight on the bench press. On deadlifts, gone are the days when I added 10 pounds each week. It’s more like “I did 4 reps at this weight; so lets see if I can get to 5”. Anyway, I am having fun in the gym and I already have more muscle than I thought possible drugfree, and yes, I most definitely would love to bench 405 one of these days! All in good time.
